1. Information services

User can use the WebPac to search for library collections: books, Audio Visual

material and newspaper clipping collections, and manage user personal library

account.

  • E-resources: This service provides authorized users of the Southern College access to all the electronic databases, electronic journals, and e-books available in the campus. The e-resource including ebrary, Encyclopedia Britannica Online, Apadi ebook. Certain resources are also available through off-campus connection.

2. Borrowing, renewing and reserving service

  • Southern College staff and students can use ID card to borrow general books from the

library. The users can use online renewals service to renew their borrowing items if

nobody else has requested them. The books can be renewed once for a period of 14

days for students and 30days for staff and lecturers. Online requests are only

accepted if the item is borrowed by another user.

3. Self-service Photocopy and printing service

  • Photostate machine is available on the 1st floor of the Library. Users can buy a copy card at Circulation counter located on the 1st floor. And for those who request Network Printing Service, please contact the librarian at the circulation counter or the reference desk on the 1st floor.

4. Audio-visual material

  • The library provides audio visual materials, including videos, audiocassettes, CDs etc. The users can use it in the audio-visual equipment room on the 3rd floor of the library.

5. Reserve book

  • For the convenience of the students, the library has displayed all the recommended books which have been listed in the syllabi. The reserve books are displayed on the Reserve book stack on the 1st floor. All reserved book are only for indoor use.

6. Internet service

  • User may use the internet to surf online resources in the library.

7. Reference service

  • Reference service helps users find the information efficiently on:

a) Using our library services and facilities

b) Locating pertinent information sources

c) Formulating search strategies

d) Searching WebPAC, the library catalogue

e) Using the article databases and other electronic resources

8. Orientation & Instruction

  • The Library Tour is designed to introduce library services, policy and facilities to new students at the beginning of each semester.
  • Users can organize a group of 4 or more to request information search classes.
  • The college may request student orientation sessions for a particular subject talk.
